CONVERTING COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY INTO SPIRITUAL CAPITAL
Changing your thinking takes awareness, because negativity is deeply ingrained. But itâs possible to convert counterfeit currency into spiritual capital. Hereâs how. Begin each day by resolving to be an advocate for your strengths and dreams. Do this conscientiously without allowing judgment from your committee. At every opportunity, when your subconscious wants to lapse into lack and limitation, write down what you have to be thankful for. In the beginning, do this every hour, even if youâre not actively thinking about your beliefs about lack or limitation. After a few days, youâll begin to notice change.
Youâll be noticeably happier and more peaceful, because youâll be connected to your âgreater self,â which is focused not simply on you but on all of life. Your thoughts of gratitude will gradually shift to being rather than having. Your horizon will change, from the view right in front of you, to a view with a broader, distinctly nonmaterial connection to the creative flow of love. This is the expression of you as both the creator and the participant.
Soon you will become aware whenever you lapse back into a negative focus on limitation, judgment, and unworthiness. If youâre fantasizing about a negative outcome, immediately stop and change the thought by giving it a positive outcome. If youâre awaiting an important yes or no decision, focus on a yes outcome rather than thinking of all the possible reasons why you could be turned down. If you look at something in a store window and your first reaction is, âI canât afford this,â change the thought to: âI create the prosperity needed to buy this and more.â
By shifting your view of the world, you also shift your stories from âwhat happened to meâ to âwhat I am creating.â The more vividly you can envision yourself as the prosperous and positive creator you are, the more powerful your intentions will be. When your stories change from being those of the victim to those of the creator, your positive thoughts will have become second nature. Share your stories with the intention that others can be inspired by them, rather than making them into arguments for your limitations. Catch yourself the moment you start on one of your old stories. Remember, no one ever built a monument to a pessimist.
Perhaps you grew up believing in some form of the adage âHope for the best, expect the worst, and take what comes.â After reading and reflecting upon the material in this chapter, you have the opportunity to transform this limiting belief and embrace a new, brighter guiding principle: âEnvision love as an unstoppable force that creates great outcomes, be unattached to how your results look, and see only good.â
